Militia members and dozens of other citizens took over the headquarters of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. The takeover of the refuge was preceded by a protest over two ranchers who were accused of arson by the government. The two ranchers, Dwight and Steven Hammond, set fire to invasive plants to prevent the plants from getting to close to their ranch and potentially causing wild fires.
So how did militia members get tied up in this? You can look to none other than Ammon Bundy, son of Cliven Bundy.
If you remember back about two years ago, Cliven Bundy, his family, friends, militia members and other arm-bearing citizens had a standoff with the government over grazing rights. (The videos below will give you insight on the Bundy Ranch standoff.)
